Volunteers built wheelchair ramp

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - One person received a gift Saturday, that will make it easier to go to and from her home, all thanks to a group of volunteers.
The Service Action Network of RSVP partnered with Newman Company Inc. to build a Terre Haute resident a wheelchair ramp.
It's part of their Ramp it Up project to build ramps for the disabled who can't afford it.
"Not only will she be able to leave the house and not be nervous about how she's gonna get in and out of the house, but she'll actually just be able to come out and sit on the landing on her wheel-chair and get fresh air and sunshine," Western Indiana Community Action Agency RSVP Volunteer Coordinator Patty Jones said.
Todd Newman of Newman construction and his family, donate their time in memory of his mother.
The goal is to build four ramps a year.
Volunteers are at least 55 years old. To volunteer, contact the Service Action Network of RSVP at (812) 232-1264.
