VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Albert Kiger, 59, had a history of drug related crimes that may have caught up to him Thursday morning.
Police continue to look for the person who they believe murdered him inside his Vigo County home.
Details remain few, but police said this crime may be drug related, not a first for Kiger.
After a conviction for dealing cocaine in 2002, Kiger was arrested again in 2009 on meth-related charges.
Around 2:00 a.m. Thursday, he was shot multiple times inside his home.
"It's way too early to determine if this had anything to do with the drug or drug culture," Vigo County Sheriff Jon Marvel said. "One can only assume."
Police said after Kiger was shot, he made it to a neighbor's house, where he collapsed on the doorstep. The neighbor called 911.
Kiger was later pronounced dead at Regional Hospital.
Indiana State Police are assisting in the investigation to analyze the crime scene, including blood splatter and whether there was a struggle before the shooting.
