TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Christmas tree was lit Saturday night in remembrance of those that have died from domestic abuse.

Outside the Vigo County Courthouse, a candle lit vigil and Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held by CODA, to honor all victims of crime, missing persons and those in the military.

Many families, including the Javins and the Swalls families, gathered outside Terre Haute City Hall to pay tribute.

Scott Javins went missing several years ago.

Javins’s body was later found in the Wabash River.

Meanwhile, Joshua Swalls is currently missing, and his family continues their search.

All those gathered hoped the ceremony brings peace during the holiday season.
