VERMILLION CO. Ind. (WTHI) - A local sheriff's office got a donation, that will help them save lives. Wednesday, the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department received $2,000 from the Clinton Lions Club.

The money will go toward their AED program. These are devices that work as defibrillators. They allow first responders to treat emergency patients with heart issues.

Today Union Hospital in Clinton was on hand to help train the department on the equipment. Officials said they were glad to receive the donation and the devices.

"I can't say enough to thank the people, and thank the organizations and the efforts of many individuals who stepped forward and to make sure that these units were purchased," Vermillion County Sheriff, Bob Spence said.
