Vendors prep for Covered Bridge Fest

BRIDGETON, Ind. (WTHI) - Preparations are underway for Parke County, Indiana’s annual Covered Bridge Festival.

The event, touted as Indiana’s largest festival, begins Friday, October 12 and runs through Sunday, October 21.

Aside from tours of covered bridges and fall foliage, the festival also includes hundreds of vendors selling art, crafts, antiques, food and other items. Those vendors say they often find visitors from a wide variety of places.

“California, Hawaii, every state … We have people from overseas,” said William Lage who has been selling antiques from the same spot in Bridgeton for 15 years.

Lage said despite a tough economy in recent years, sales remain strong.

“If you bring it, they’ll buy it,” Lage said. “They say the economy’s bad, but people find  money to buy … It gets better every year.”
