Vending Co ready for life after Hostess

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A major corporate shut down is still causing quite a commotion. Last week Hostess announced they'd be closing their doors due to failed worker/management negotiations. The ripples are long-reaching.
 
Fox Canteen Vending has been profiting off of hostess for years. They stock and supply vending machines. Since 1996 they said they've sold nearly 3.3 million pieces of Hostess products in Terre Haute.

"It's our most in demand category. We sell more cake than we do candy bars and potato chips," General Manager, Kyle West said.

It adds up to about $400 thousand dollars a year just in Hostess sales. So you'd think when they heard the company was going out of business, they'd be worried, but that wasn't the case. 

"Our suppliers kind of gave us a heads up that this would be happening. Right now, it looks like we're going to be ok."

They've got a ready supply of replacement brands to go where Hostess pastries would go.     

"Instead of Twinkies it might say 'golden sponge cake,' but at the end of the day, it's a very similar product and we think the customer will enjoy it."
   
West said the heart of the issue remains with the personnel who've been laid off. 

"Several tens of thousands of people are without jobs right now so will the situation will get resolved and everybody back to work," West said.
