Valley residents received free health screening

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Several people from the Wabash Valley got an early present today in the form of a free health screening.

The screening took place at Booker T. Washington Center this afternoon, and was open to anyone.

People were able to get flue shots, blood pressure tests and Cholesterol and glucose screenings all at no cost.

Organizers said it’s especially important at this time of the year.

“In these times, sometimes, people get a little depressed.  They get a little sad about not having family members around, or not having money they’d like to have for Christmas presents, so we just want to do something to cheer the community up,” said Health Fair Coordinator Mia Lewis.

Mia said she hopes this will become an annual event.
