TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute Parks Department Friday will start a month of haunted and un-haunted happenings at Deming Park.

It will mark the start of Halloween festivities in Terre Haute and the Wabash Valley.

On Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13, families will take part in the Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department's Un-Haunted Halloween Happenings.

The event will provide families with an opportunity to enjoy Halloween in a family friendly, not-so-scary manor.

The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and goes until 9:00 p.m. both days.

Activities include:

  • Un-haunted train and hay rides: admission for the rides are $2,
  • Halloween stories told in the Fort Harrison Room between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and
  • A family friendly Halloween themed movie at 7:30 p.m.

Participants will also take part in a judging the Great Pumpkin Contest.

Later in October, department officials will hold their annual Haunted Happenings.

Dates for that begin on Friday, October 19.
