TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - UPDATE:

Police apprehended the suspects shortly after 9 AM, and they have been taken to the juvenile center on charges of escaping and resisting arrest.

A citizen near Honey Creek had given the girls a ride to Holiday Inn, then proceeded to call police after she suspected something wasn't quite right.

The teens were later found at Center Street and Weston Drive, located just north of Terre Haute South High School.

---

Vigo County Sheriff's department told News 10 that three females walked off the Gibault Campus Tuesday morning.

The 17 year old and two 15 year old girls proceeded to knock on doors on the south side of Terre Haute, asking for a ride to Indianapolis.

The Terre Haute Police Department's K-9 unit was called in to assist in finding the teens.

Residents of the area have received a recorded message on their phones informing them of the situation, specifying that two of the girls are Caucasian and one is African-American. They are reportedly wearing sweat suits.

State, City and County officials are still searching for the walk-offs.

Authorities tell News 10, the three female suspects have a criminal history of auto theft and battery.
