TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute Redevelopment Commission approved financing a new headquarters for the Terre Haute Police Department.
Right now, police report to the former Old National Bank on 12th Street and Wabash Avenue.
The new facility would likely be near that location.
"The time is right for us to move forward with the building of the new facility for them and I'm excited that the redevelopment department and commission and can be a part of this with the city administration," Department of Redevelopment Executive Director Cliff Lambert said.
The new building will cost about $5.2 million in bonds.
Lambert said the next step is for police officers to work with consultants, architects and construction managers to design the facility.
Construction on the facility is expected to begin next summer.
