TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - You may notice some changes at the Terre Haute Police Department.

The city bought the rest of the building, housing the department, last year.

They've made some changes, temporarily expanding their offices, while they draw up plans for a new police department.

They’ve added space for interview rooms, evidence storage and they’ve made the department more secure.

Police said the department is now more user-friendly for the public.

"We've moved our traffic offices around, the public everything they'll need to obtain,” Terre Haute Police Assistant Chief Shawn Keen said. “Whether it's a traffic report or the release of a vehicle will be in the same section now. That's also enabled us to make it more secure. “

The city plans to build a new police department on the current property at 13th and Wabash Avenue.
