TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A heated scene at the Terre Haute City Council meeting Thursday night.
Many residents showed up expressing feelings for and against the city wide smoking ban.
It was one of their last chances to do so, as the ban goes into effect July 1st.
The ban was passed 18 months ago.
Numerous bar operators were present arguing a ban would defer people away and thus hurt their business.
While the ban has been passed, council president Don Morris says there could still be some changes.
"I think there's some discussion to be made and we're anxious to see how the county proceeds, and we'll proceed from there," said Morris.
A county wide ban would override any city ban.
Morris says the city will back the county's decision.
