TH plans new bike trail

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Work has begun on a new bicycle trail to link several parks and other trails in Terre Haute, city engineers said.

The new bike trail would run between an existing trail on north Blakely Avenue south to Deming Park, and through the park to the existing Dobbs Park trail. In all, city planners say the extra trails would link several parts of Terre Haute by bike.

“With the trail, you’ll be able to go from some of the residential neighborhoods, Village Quarter … all the way through Deming Park, north to the Heritage Trail and then all the way into Hawthorne Park, behind Rose Hulman, and all the way into town,” said engineer Chuck Ennis.

City leaders hope to finish construction of the new trail by winter.
