TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - One Terre Haute street could be looking a lot different in the future.
Last week Mayor Duke Bennett revealed plans to change parts of First Street.
The city would remove the railroad tracks that divide the street. Engineers said they would then landscape the middle section. The final product would turn the street into a boulevard.
Crews won't be able to start work until CSX abandons the tracks north of Park Street. That process could take the remainder of the year.
The earliest it would start would be 2014 Officials said the project should cost under 1 million dollars. That money could come from grants or local funds.
