Terre Foods plans July Blueberry Fest

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Terre Foods Cooperative Market (TFCM) in Terre Haute is getting ready to feel a little bluer on July 19.

Bluer for the Blueberry Fest, that is.

Blueberry Fest will take place at Central Presbyterian Church on 7th St. on July 19, and will play feature native Indiana organic blueberries from the Blueberry Ranch of Grainger/Mishawaka, IN, located in the northern part of the state.

Blueberry sundaes will be sold for $5 and quarts of blueberries will be available for $7.

There will be a variety of vendors and live music.

Keeping the organic theme running, the event will be considered a green event, utilizing compostable bowls and utensils

Patrons are encouraged by an incentive to bring their own bowls and spoons to conserve on the amount of waste produced from the Fest. Those who bring their own utensils will be entered into a raffle drawing for prizes.

The Fest begins at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 7:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the Blueberry Fest will benefit TFCM, a member-owned natural/local/organic foods cooperative.

TFCM currently has 446 members and is looking to expand its membership lists. There will be TFCM members at the Fest to explain the mission of the cooperative and to sign up new members.

Patrons who become TFCM members will receive a free quart of blueberries.

The Blueberry Fest is supported by upwards of 70 volunteers who help prepare and serve the treats among other tasks.
