TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Addressing the nation last night, the president highlighted positives he saw in the economy: technology jobs.

It might surprise you that the Wabash Valley has seen growth in our technology area.

At Rose Hulman Wednesday they held their winter job fair. This year Rose Hulman had 122 companies attend. That's 33 more companies than the year before.

We spoke with engineers from a Wabash Valley company, Stimulus Engineering. They told us this in the past month they've hired 15 new workers and at the job fair we were told they we're looking for 3 new engineers.

For 24 percent of the companies recruiting at Rose Hulman, it was their first time. Something members of Rose Hulman’s faculty say is a good sign for the economy.

"The last few years they have been a little bit smaller, with the economy being the way it is. But, with the up tick more and more companies have opportunities an they're here today search for those seniors graduating for full time,” Kevin Hewerdine of Rose Hulman’s Career Services said.

Rose Hulman also released the job placement numbers for 2011; they said 99 percent of that class has found jobs.
