Students sleep in boxes for cause

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Members of one Indiana State University social organization are experiencing a meeker lifestyle to raise awareness to a problem affecting the Wabash Valley, by sleeping in boxes for charity.

Pi Kappa Alpha moved into the cardboard boxes three days ago.

Students hope to raise more awareness about homelessness. They've set donation buckets out near their box city for people to give money.  

Students say the money raised with go to Terre Haute's Bethany House.

"For people that do this every day, that’s what they deal with. So, we do this to kind of get a sense of what they do, and just to make it known on campus that the problem is real in Terre Haute,” said Jay Reeves, Philanthropy Chair.    

Students moved out of their box city Friday.
