Storms cause some flooding and damage

LINTON, Ind. (WTHI) - It was a wet, muddy weekend across the Wabash Valley.

After Saturday's storms, News 10 received several reports of flooding and storm damage.

For Bob Dale, in Linton, Indiana, it hit home.

"I heard a big, loud bang, and I thought it was thunder.  So, I got up to look and that's when I noticed the tree was down. I went outside and [saw] it had hit the house, the car port, the van and the storage building," Dale said.

Dale said it was almost too close. The tree struck the house near where he was sleeping.

"I believe that part of the tree hit the van, and kept it from coming through the house. So, I got real lucky," he said.

On average, the Wabash Valley received between one to three inches of rain in just 24 hours.

The areas most hit by the storm were Knox, Sullivan, Lawrence and Daviess Counties.

The rain even forced some county road closures on Sunday.

Around the Valley, it seemed these types of storms are never really over.

"There's probably still some rain; but, what do you expect, right. You live in Indiana," said Dale

Some residents are now left to clean up the damage, while others wait for problem areas to clear out.

Sullivan County Sheriff's Department reported cars stuck on roadways Sunday morning due to low-level flooding.

A viewer also reported that some residents near Vincennes had severe damage, including roofs blown off.
