A major road development project will soon undergo another phase.
The Indiana Department of Transportation held a public meeting Tuesday night on the State Road 641 bypass project.
An informal gathering was held at 5 p.m. for people to look at various maps detailing the construction project. A more formal meeting with INDOT officials was held at 6 p.m.
The bypass will create a four lane full access control roadway connecting U.S. 41 South of Terre Haute to I-70 east of the city.
The project has two phases remaining, with phase three moving from northeast of Feree Road to East of Riley Road; and phase four from east of Riley Road to the I-70 interchange.
Construction will start in the spring with final completion of the project near the end of 2014.
The reason for the bypass is to make the area between the east and west Terre Haute exits more accessible.
