LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. (WTHI) - It was a sad beginning to the weekend for friends and family of fallen Army Specialist Trevor Pinnick.

Specialist Pinnick arrived home in Lawrenceville Saturday.

The town was completely silent: a vision of red, white and blue.

Family, friends, fellow service men and women and supporters lined up early Saturday morning at Mid America Air Center in Lawrenceville, IL, to honor their local hero, Specialist Trevor Pinnick, as he returned home.

"I'm very much honored to be here and I am very much, between the city of Vincennes and Lawrenceville, Illinois, this is just a showing of the small town feeling of all the people here that care," Vincennes Fire Department Battalion Chief Tony Jarrell said.

After a brief period, the small aircraft carrying Specialist Pinnick landed.

Military officials saluted him, then carried him towards his family, and put him inside the coach.

They drove to the Duesterberg Frederick Funeral Home.

"I have spoke with many people who did know him and he was very much respected and again he served his community over here so we all feel a close kinship with someone who serves to protect our country and our communities," Battalion Chief Jarrell said.

Specialist Pinnick died in Afghanistan this month, when an explosive device hit his unit.

Specialist Pinnick was just 20-years-old.

Visitation for Specialist Trevor Pinnick will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. central time at the Lawrenceville High School Auditorium.

Funeral Services begin Monday at 11:00 a.m. central time.

It will be at the High School Auditorium with burial in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.
