VINCENNES, IND. (WTHI) -       Even veteran travelers can come across a place once in while where they have never been before.

Thousands of people of all ages have visited Grouseland in Vincennes.

The house was the territorial home for then-Governor William Henry Harrison.

For the head of Indiana's tourism department Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman.. this was the first time she ever visited the mansion.

Skillman says the tour is part of an effort to get communities to think about the states big birthday bash.

"Two-thousand-12 is not too soon to be thinking of great ways for each community to celebrate 200 years of statehood," said Skillman, "and being here in Vincennes and Knox County is the perfect place to talk about the state's bi-centenial."

The Lieutenant Governor is co-chairing a planning committee for the big celebration in 2016 with former Congressman Lee Hamilton.
