VINCENNES, IND. (WTHI) - A troublesome sewer line along a levee in southern Indiana will be getting moved.
Vincennes officials had a scare during the flooding of 2011 when the Brevoort Levee on the south side of the city began developing sink holes.
Officials found the holes were being caused by sewer lines next to the levee.
Now the city has received a $500,000 grant from the state of Indiana to fix the problem.
"The grant award from the state of Indiana will pay about 75 percent of the cost to relocate a main sanitary sewer line running from the old section of Vincennes to our waste water plant," said Kirk Bouchie with Vincennes Water Utilities.
Officials say they plan to get the line away from the levee on the other side of River Road.
The work is scheduled for next year.
