VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on June 7th after receiving information that a 4-year-old boy had been battered by his mother’s boyfriend. The alleged incident occurred on June 6th.
During the investigation, Trooper John Davis was able to determine that Michael Garris, 29, of Vincennes, was watching his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son at their residence located at 907 Busseron Street in Vincennes.
Garris prepared the child some food to eat, but he didn’t like it. Garris allegedly forced the child to eat the food, which caused him to vomit on his plate.
Garris then allegedly forced the child to consume the vomit and later struck the child multiple times causing numerous bruises on his buttocks. The father of the child notified police after picking up his son later in the day and noticing bruises.
Wednesday afternoon, June 9, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Indiana State Police arrested Garris at his residence without incident. He was taken to the Knox County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.
