TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Marines in the Wabash Valley give a special 'thank you' Wednesday night.
Marines presented officials at the Terre Haute International Airport an award to say thanks for all of their help with bringing home Marines and fallen Marines.
First Sergeant Michael Taylor said airport officials were very helpful relaying flight arrival times when Marines were returning home.
First Sergeant Taylor said this prevented families from sitting around for hours while waiting on their loved ones to return.
He also said they allowed them to do what needs to be done when a fallen Marine returns home.
"Every day that we walk around we get thank you's from people in the community and I truly believe that since we can finally give back to someone, even a small token as we did today, I think it's an opportunity for them to see that we actually care about them also," Marine First Sgt. Taylor said.
First Sergeant Taylor said the airport covered all fees for them.
