WASHINGTON, IND. (WTHI) - An explosion and fire destroy a home in southern Indiana.
Authorities say the blast was reported around 3 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Chris Spaulding residence on Daviess County Road 300 South.
The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene, but they were unable to save the home.
After putting out the fire, officials spent several hours looking for Spaulding and even called in a state fire marshall investigator to look at the house.
"No foul play suspected, the cause is under investigation," said Washington Township Fire Captain Doug Terrell, "a lot of the reason was looking for the resident. There was a period of time we were not able to locate him."
Spaulding later contacted family members by phone.
Besides the fire marshall, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department is also looking for the cause of the fire.
