VINCENNES, IND. (WTHI) - Some big construction projects in southern Indiana have workers scrambling for camp sites.
Between the Duke energy Power Plant in Knox County and the I-69 construction project in Greene and Daviess Counties there are now billions of dollars in building underway in southern Indiana.
Those projects have brought in thousands of contractors and construction workers from around the state and the nation.
Many of them live in small camping trailers while on the job, but right now camp site space is very tight.
The demand has produced some good things for camping operators like the Knox County Parks Department.
"It's really been great for us," said Knox County Parks Superintendent Chase Ellis, "not only is it the workers, but they have their families and their kids up there, and it's bringing in a steady revenue stream for the parks department."
Knox County officials say that because of the camp site crunch caused by the construction, for the first time ever they will keep the campground open all winter.
