WASHINGTON, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana officials said the I-69 extension from Evansville is moving ahead faster than they expected.

The route for I-69 is staked out and so ready for construction to begin that farmers have only planted corn up to the edge of the project.

Officials said bids for the projects here have come in under budget, and the paperwork is moving ahead fast enough that they expect the road to be completed to Bloomington years ahead of schedule.

In fact, the state expects to have the final environmental impact statement for the section extending from Crane to Bloomington complete in the next 45 days.
