TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra held a special performance Sunday afternoon.

The concert was called 'Where the Black Hawk soars'. It ties into the Vigo County Public Library's 'Big Read' choice of "My Antonia" by author Willa Cather.

Music was chosen to represent the Nebraska prairies and be appropriate to the fictional town of Black Hawk where the story is set.

"I would hope they would recognize the tie-ins to the book, we deal with sound, the book is the printed page," said Sinfonietta Pops Director Jim Chesterson. "I would also hope people who haven't been to a Sinfonietta concert would recognize that we have two very good orchestras in the city of Terre Haute."

The concert cost $10 for adults, $5 for students.

The Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra is part of Terre Haute Community Band .
