TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Meadows Shopping Center was swarming with elementary kids Saturday.

The Annual Literacy Showcase was going on Saturday morning.

Organizers said the children work really hard all year round creating stories and projects that are literacy-based.

They think it's important to showcase what the boys and girls do and how much they've learned.

They also believe it gives them incentive to continue doing well.

"When they see the finished product, they're really proud of themselves. And see it's well worth it,” said Melissa Sawyer, president of the Wabash Valley Council of the Indiana Reading Association.

Sawyer said they do this every spring as a nice wrap-up to the school year.
