VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - The Vigo County Sheriff's Department is losing three employees to the county buyout plan.
Sheriff Jon Marvel said their positions are vital to the jail.
The jail secretary, who handles commissary accounts, spending, and medical for inmate, is taking the buyout, as well as a jail administrator, and the county's animal control officer.
Sheriff Marvel said he understands the county's position but hopes they will allow him to fill the lost positions.
He said in recent years he's tried to cut out all of the extra spending but at this point there's nothing more he can cut.
Sheriff Marvel plans to ask the County Council to allow him to fill the three positions he's losing in the coming weeks.
