TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - With the holidays around the corner, veteran shoppers for both retail and food items are greeted with the constant barrage of a clanging sound.
The familiar scene of a red donation bucket dangling on a chain affixed to a red coated tripod.
Standing beside the bucket is a man or woman dressed warmly, with a red apron draped over their body with a white-lined shield near the center of their chest.
For whom do these bells constantly toll? Well, they ring for you, of course, and a good cause.
The members of the Salvation Army that brave the elements to ring those bells stand for more than just a reminder the holidays are among us. They provide the community with an opportunity to help out those in need.
News 10’s Photojournalist John Timm takes on a special look into what it’s like to be on the other side of the bells.
