TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local college celebrated cancer survivors, Saturday, including one of their coaches.
Just before the Rose Hulman women tipped off against Defiance College, the school paid tribute to cancer survivors in a pre-game ceremony; giving each survivor that attended a pink rose.
That also meant recognizing women's head coach, Jon Prevo and his wife, who both have battled cancer.
For survivors, they say events like this help to strengthen them.
"Some of us are continuing the fight, so it’s just a real encourager to be with other women who are survivors and draw encouragement and support from them," Nina Storie of the Wabash Valley Cancer Survivors group said.
