TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Area businesses, civic leaders and volunteers were honored at an appreciation luncheon Wednesday afternoon at Outback Steakhouse in Terre Haute.

Thirty-six teams participated in this year’s Relay for Life and raised over $44,000.

Organizers say they’re happy with the turnout, and look forward to what the community can do to help cancer research next year.

“It’s just important for us to thank our sponsors so they feel like they’re appreciated, and we’re not just asking them to help us just for donations and their time through the years. So this is a great way to say thank you, you know, feed them and get every business pumped up and back involved for this coming year,” Ashley Jones, from the Relay for Life said.

If you’d like to form or sponsor a team for next year’s relay, call the American Cancer Society at (812) 232-2679.
