MARSHALL, Ill. (WTHI) - If you tune into 105.9 FM, you're going to hear the voice of JD Spangler. Spangler has been doing radio for years here in Clark County.
He's the owner of WMMC. Each day, he reaches thousands, but now, he's scared that could change.
"I'm the only radio station in Clark Count,y and the only radio station serving Clark and Edgar County. I'm the only one! So, we want to put those guys out of business? I don't think so," Spangler said.
Ameren Energy has proposed a plan that would put a poll not too far from WMMC's tower in Clark County.
"Logic tells you that even if it allows me to broadcast, it would cut my signal drastically," Spangler said.
He said he's getting ready to start a study that would that prove that to the government of the signal loss.
That'll cost thousands.
Meanwhile, Ameren said the proposed route is just that: a proposal.
In a statement to News 10, they said, "At the end of the day, it's the commission the makes the decision. Ameren Transmission will build the Illinois Rivers Project on the route that is approved by the Illinois Commerce Commission."
They encourage folks like Spangler to reach out to the commission, now, and voice their disapproval.
A final decision from the commission won't come down until July 2013.
