TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The public was invited Monday evening to get to know their local candidates for the upcoming election.

The League of Women Voters of Vigo County, the Vigo County Library, and the Tribune Star sponsored a forum at the Vigo County Annex building in Terre Haute.

Monday's event was an opportunity for folks to get to get to know our four candidates running for commissioner and six candidates running for councilman.

"Unless you have seen the people, you're just voting for a name and so this is why we dod it, so that people will get to see them and see how they behave and see how they answer questions, whether or not they want to vote for them," Candidate Forum Committee Chairman Geri Black said.

Tuesday's forum will feature candidates for State Representative in Districts 42, 43, 45, and 46.

The election is November 6th.
