TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The local Republican party is concerned over the election process and may challenge the ballots.
Vigo County Republican Party Chairman Randall Gentry heard this week that the Chief Election Officer used employees of the clerk's office to process absentee ballots, which is illegal.
Gentry made a recommendation to the Vigo County Election Board for 14 local Republicans be appointed to the Absentee Voter Boards.
He has not heard back.
However, the clerk's office allowed five republicans to observe the processing of ballots.
11 ballots' signatures did not match applications.
"I'm running out of time, so if we can't move forward in a positive way to get this back on track, the way the law prescribes, I may be forced to challenge the ballots to give us an opportunity to look at each and every ballot like we were supposed to in the first place," Gentry said.
The election is November 6th.
Monday is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot.
