TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Pepsi gives thousands of dollars to a local organization that helps children in need.

Friday, Vigo County CASA Kids received a $5,000 grant from the Pepsi "Refresh Everything" Project.

Back in September, the Wabash Valley was asked to vote for a community-based organization that deserved the money.

CASA Kids ended up on top, and officials say they are very thankful for the chance to win the grant and the support from the community.

"I think that the community really cares about the kids here that are going through tragic situations, and we're just really appreciative for the support and the help," said Administrative Assistant Penny Karn.

CASA Kids is part of the CASA group that provides court help for abused and neglected children.

They say they will use the money to provide enrichment programs, such as sports, for the kids.

CASA Kids also received $10,000 from the Marines last week.
