TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - On the one year anniversary of the devastating Haiti earthquake, locals gathered to discuss the event that touched many here in the Wabash Valley.
Marion Ramsey-Ford, a nurse, addressed the crowd at Indiana State University.
Ramsey-Ford spent nearly six weeks in earthquake-torn Haiti just two months after the disaster.
She said some of the hardships she saw almost a year ago are still going on in Haiti today.
And, the country still needs help, money, and volunteers.
"I want people to continue to have it on their mind. I want people to understand that it doesn't take a hero, it doesn't take somebody really talented, it takes good hearts and hands," Ramsey-Ford said.
