DUGGER, Ind. (WTHI) - Police release the name of a man hit and killed by a train.
An autopsy is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday on 47-year old Jeffrey Bedwell of Dugger.
Bedwell was hit by the train near the UpTown Tavern in Dugger near Second and Main streets.
News 10’s Gina Glaros went to the scene and discovered that Bedwell was at the UpTown Tavern early Sunday morning, and left via the backdoor exit.
Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputies' initial investigation revealed around 3:58 a.m. Sunday, a 47-year-old man had fallen asleep on the railroad tracks.
Police looked at a video log from the train and saw that conductors sounded multiple warnings before the train hit the man.
Deputies found the man off to the side of the tracks.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case.
