Officers involved in Rosedale Standoff, named

ROSEDALE, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post continue to investigate a shooting incident at 74 South Main Street in Rosedale that occurred yesterday afternoon.

A Rosedale Deputy Town Marshal and an Indiana State Police Trooper responded to the residence for a domestic situation and were immediately fired upon by the male suspect, Zachary T. Buza, 19.

Buza is currently in the Parke County Jail on preliminary felony charges of Attempted Murder, Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Battery.

Additional charges are expected at the conclusion of the ISP investigation and consultation with the Parke County Prosecutor’s Office.

Indiana State Police Detective Chris Carter is the lead investigator.

The scene and all evidence were processed by ISP Crime Scene Investigators Sergeants Kris Fitzgerald and Jim Cody.

Assisting ISP investigators were Detective First Sergeant Jeff Hearon, Detectives Tom Hanks and Tony Guinn, and the Parke County Sheriff’s Office.

The responding ISP Trooper involved in the shooting was Michael C. Organ, 26, of Parke County. Organ is a 1 1/2 year veteran of the department.

The responding Rosedale Deputy Town Marshal was Kevin Bratcher, 47, also of Parke County and a 12 1/2 year veteran of the Rosedale Marshal’s Office.

Both officers received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
