TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Terre Haute city officials are contemplating a new police station. The redevelopment commission put the wheels in motion that would secure funds for a new police building.

They voted on that measure in a public meeting on Tuesday. Now they'll await word from Terre Haute Police Department on how the building would take shape

Officials said  decision opens the door for the city council and the mayor to bring new development to Terre Haute.

"We'll have the funding mechanism in place once the bit specs are realized, and I hope that would be sometime in the late spring," Cliff Lambert from the Terre Haute Department of Development said.
