UPDATE: only 47 left without power

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - UPDATE: Duke Energy has reported that only 47 homes in Vigo County are without power at this time.

On Sunday evening, nearly 1000 Duke Energy customers in West Terre Haute are without power.

According to Vigo County Dispatch, the incident that triggered the outage happened around 6:40 p.m. Sunday near Sarah Myers Drive and Thorp Place in West Terre Haute.

A citizen was cutting down a tree, which fell onto a nearby power line.

According to Duke Energy , nearly 1000 people are without power at this time; however, crews are working on getting power restored as quickly as possible.
