TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - People from across the Wabash Valley came together today for some free pancakes and to help a local organization.
Tuesday was National Pancake Day at IHOP locations across the country. Customers could come in for a free short stack of pancakes. In return, they were asked to make a donation to an area charity.
In Terre Haute, donations were given to the Crisis Pregnancy Center. The Center helps over 2,500 people every year with testing, screenings, and classes.
One of the people the center has helped is Andrea Craft. Andrea first visited the center two years ago with her daughter Gabrielle. She says her life wouldn't be the same without the support she's gotten.
"Pregnancy can be kind of a scary thing when you first learn about it," said Andrea. "You don't really know what to do and you feel like you're kind of alone sometimes, and they're there to lend a helping hand."
Executive Director Sharon Carey says people come up to her all the time to express their appreciation.
"They're saying thank you, thank you so much and we want to help," said Sharon, "so it means so much to me to see the community come together and make a difference in the lives of men and women here in the Wabash Valley."
Last year, over $3 million was donated nationwide.
