KNOX CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Several grade school kids got some early Christmas presents, thanks to a national event involving local law enforcement.

In the Vincennes Walmart, aisle after aisle was filled with more than 200 Head State kids, Police and helpers for the annual Shop with a Cop event.

Officers said even though the donations were down a little, they were still able to spend $170 on each of the low income kids for Christmas.

“We couldn’t do this, if it were not for the people who donate, contribute money, individuals, businesses, civic organizations…just so many people.  We really appreciate them supporting it every year,” said Lt. Steve Chesser, “ because it really shows in these kids’ faces.”

This is the 15 year the Vincennes Fraternal Order of Police Chapter has put on the event.
