Murderer gets 165 years in prison

ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - The final chapter ends for a bizarre murder that rocked Parke County last year. Last month, a jury convicted Jeremy Musall of murder and several other charges including kidnapping, Rape, and burglary. Thursday the final sentence for those crimes came down with Musall serving 165 years in prison.

Last August, Jeremy Musall broke into the Parke County home of his ex-girlfriend and her then boy-friend Joseph snow. The horrific scene Musall left behind would finally see justice served Thursday at his sentencing.

"It’s been horrible, very, very lonely, (we) miss him everyday he was just 30 years old, his babies need him,” Karen Query the mother of Joseph Snow said.

The family of Joseph Snow gathered in Rockville Thursday for the final chapter in his murder: the sentencing of his killer Jeremy Musall.

"My son was just a small man taken out in his sleep, would never have a chance to fight, would never do this to anyone,” Query said

A year after that night, Karen Query is a mother without a son. That August night Jeremy Musall would take him from her.

Musall broke into a home in Parke County that was shared by Snow and his girlfriend, as well as Musall's ex-girlfriend. Snow and the woman also had a daughter in the home.

Prosecutors described the killing as torture. Musall began beating Snow while he was still asleep.

He then bound Snow with duck tape, strangled him with an electric cord and continued to beat him. He would stab Snow several times and put out a lit cigarette on one of Snow's eyes. After killing Snow, he raped Snow's girlfriend and then kidnapped the little girl.

In July a jury found Musall guilty of murder, burglary, rape, and kidnapping. Given a chance to speak on his crimes Musall offered a simple apology and would not comment after the sentencing.

A Parke County judge called Musall, “the worst of the worst” and gave him 165 years in prison.

It won't bring Snow back, but the family feels it will save others from their pain.
"I feel relief. I feel that Jeremy (Musall) will spend the rest of his life in prison where he needs to be so he can never hurt another person,” Query said.

Musall said in court he would like a court appointed attorney to appeal the sentencing.
