Gina Virgilio is a single mom. She says she raised her 18 year old daughter without child support. She called it a tough road, which is why she feels child support is so important for those who do receive it.

"I think if you can create the child, you need to help care for the child," Virgilio said.

She's doing what she can to get aid from her child's father, but starting in July, Gina's daughter wouldn't be eligible for support anyway, once she turns 19.

That's because a new law, starting July 1 brings the emancipation age down from 21 to 19, unless the child is in college.

It's something Gina disagrees with.
"I think they should leave it, because most of, like I said, a lot of time kids are still at home until they're 21," Virgilio said.

However, some do like the change. One father said on our Facebook wall, "I pay my support and "I think it will help. I have been ripped off for over 4,000 hours of visitation that i cant replace. "

The goal of the law is to put Indiana in line with surrounding state that already have the 19 year old practice. Officials said it'll bring in more money in the long run, and encourage kids to go to college.
