A long time Indiana State University professor lost his battle with cancer.
David Sabaini taught in the Communications Department at Indiana State University since 1983, most recently serving as the Interim Executive Director of Student Media.
He was known as Mr. Radio around campus, while leading the student radio station WISU.
Sabaini was also active in the community, serving as a youth football referee.
Friends said his legacy will remain in his style of teaching.
"If it would be possible for everyone to have a glimpse of that, it would really be that he really cared for students. I mean he remembered their names, he remembered them across years, he wanted the best for them and he held himself to a standard of contributing to that that never wavered,” said Darlene Hantzis from Indiana State University
Sabaini also had ties to WTHI.
He provided color commentary with previous Sports Director Bob Forbes, during radio broadcasts of ISU football and basketball games.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
News 10 will have more information as it becomes available.
