Marijuana alternative sparks controversy

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - It's a drug you may not have heard of, but officials are calling it potentially deadly.

Most describe K2 as a marijuana alternative, made of synthetic materials. People smoke it to get high.

Drug task force officers told News 10 that it's more dangerous than marijuana.

In fact, Illinois and several other states have already made it illegal. Indiana legislators are considering the same.

Mike Wilson's smoke shop in Terre Haute refuses to sell it

"My thoughts are they need to make it illegal. They don't know what it's going to do to you," Wilson said.

Meanwhile, News 10 spoke stores that do sell K2. They see nothing wrong with it.  "I ain't heard nothing bad on it... we sell a lot of it. People love it." J.R. Ross of J-Spot said.
