Local water company asks customers to conserve

A need to cut back on excess water usage

SEELYVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - All Seelyville Water Customers system-wide are asked to impose voluntary water restrictions and conservation due to the weather and system requirements beyond the company’s control.

The current dry weather affecting much of the Wabash Valley, coupled with summer activities that calls for heavy water usage, impacts Seelyville Water’s ability to maintain high levels in their storage tanks

Seelyville Water feels it is most important to ensure public health and safety and asks that yard watering, car washing, and other activities outside of domestic water usage (that water used inside the home for cooking and cleaning), be voluntarily cut back.

They would like to reassure their customers that they do not have a shortage of water in the ground; however, the high daily usage could cause major problems down the road in times of emergency (fire or other events).

Seelyville Water states that this will be a temporary period of water conservation, to allow levels to replenish in the system.

A list of customer areas are Lincolnshire, Woodshire, Wyndham, Phoenix Hills, Robinwood, Deming Woods and surrounding areas in Terre Haute. Residents of East Glenn, Seelyville, Burnett, Sandcut and others located in the Seelyville Waterworks Service Area are included.
