TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Sunday, the Vigo County Search and Rescue team hosted a training session at the Vigo County Fairgrounds. While they worked on their skills, they also helped train police from abroad to find missing people in other parts of the world.
Three officers from Seoul, South Korea learned from Wabash Valley K-9s and their handlers. They watched as members of the Vigo County team performed different person, smell, and cadaver searches.
Right now the Seoul police department does not have a strong K-9 unit.
"Korean police did not have a police search team we are about to start a police K-9 academy for investigation or something like that." Yontae Jung of the Seoul Police said.
The Vigo County Search and Rescue group says they've not worked on any cases in Vigo County in the past year, but have worked in other counties across the state searching for missing persons.
